Ecruteak City, Johto CURRENT RESIDENCE:
C3, Pokette TownHISTORY:
Rui grew up in Ecruteak City, Johto, where he originally lived with his parents and grandparents. They were immigrants from a more remote village near Ecruteak, and decided to move there in order to make a better living than the farm they originally had. Rui's mother and grandmother were excellent cooks and opened up a restaurant in the city that served traditional cuisine, while his father and grandfather worked as fisherman at the nearby Olivine City .Rui didn't grow up with many friends, due to his more serious nature and differences from his fellows (he has a slight accent, among other things). As such, he became a little introverted when away from his family and preferred to spend his time at home or out in nature when not at school or work.
One day, a fierce storm near Olivine sunk the boat that Rui's father and grandfather had been on, and they were never found. Rui then had to quit school and help work at his mother's restaurant to keep the business afloat. He learned his cooking skill from them. After making sure the business wasn't going to go under, he decided to move away to become successful and open up his own restaurant (with the intention of sending back money for his mother and grandmother).
He traveled far and wide in search of a small, quiet town where he could introduce the tastes of his hometown to everyone and eventually settle down. Rui stumbled upon Pokette Town, loving the friendly atmosphere and calm environment. Hopefully Pokette Town would be the place he could call home.EXTRAS:
-Hobbies: Cooking, reading, sleeping, eating foods from his hometown, fishing, relaxing in nature
-Favorite Food: Yakitori
-Favorite Berry: Pinap Berry
-Personality: Rui is serious and somewhat introverted. He's friendly enough to new people and customers but will most likely not go out of his way too much to try and befriend people. He really opens up when someone shows interest in his cooking or his hometown's culture, and can go on for hours about things he likes or misses from there. Even though Rui is kind of a loner, he would be really happy to make a few close friends
-He continues to study in his free time (since he had to quit school and all that), and can often be found with his nose in a book and a cup of tea in hand. Rui really likes it when he can learn new things from people or when others try to teach him stuff.
-The reason his nickname is Roy is because a lot of people have trouble pronouncing his actual name and mispronounce it as "Roy." After having his name butchered so many times, he just decided to have people address him as such to make things easier.
